Merger Approved Between UCSC Affiliates and UCSC Women's Club

July 01, 2022

With great excitement, we announce two university friends' groups: the UCSC Affiliates and UCSC Women’s Club have merged.

During May 2022 meetings, each former group agreed upon a new name and approved the new Bylaws.

The new name will be UCSC Community Connections!

UCSC Community Connections (CC), the newest campus friends group, will offer a variety of interest groups as well as general meetings with speakers throughout the year.

CC has a few open positions on the board, so please consider taking a leadership role. Just tell us your skills and how you could contribute, and together we'll discuss the options. If you’d like to have that discussion, Laurie Salatich would love to hear from you! Contact her at lsalatich@gmail.com.

Our new President is Linda Koval, who has served for two years as the Second Vice President of former UCSC Women’s Club. Linda was a special education teacher for 30 years at the Santa Cruz County Office of Education where she became a head teacher, then a mentor teacher for graduate teachers from San Jose State University. After retiring, she consulted for the Santa Cruz County Office of Education, Cal State University, Monterey Bay, and several private schools for students with autism.

All campus and community members are invited to join this newly merged organization. Dues for the CC will remain the same as the former Women’s Club dues. A reminder about paying your dues will be shared in late summer. Women’s Club lifetime memberships will be honored in the CC.
