We are looking towards next year and organizing the slate of board members, the officers and coordinators that keep our group running. As this is a volunteer organization, we need volunteers! Here are the positions that need to be filled and a little about them:
Secretary
Secretary is a great way to learn about the workings of the board. All meetings are via Zoom, and you need to be able to attend the meetings. Otherwise, you’re simply taking the minutes of the meetings, transcribing your notes, and distributing them to the board shortly thereafter.
Interest Groups
Interest Groups involve lots of our members, so keeping our interest group leaders up-to-date is of primary importance. The Interest Group Coordinator can use email and phone to stay in touch with leaders; keep the membership apprised of the availability of groups; and encourage new groups.
Scholarships
Scholarships has their primary work in April. This is the time that re-entry scholarship selection happens, and you will be part of a committee to read scholarship applications and decide which applicants to fund. Of course, after scholarship selection you’ll want to be around for the Spring Scholarship Luncheon to cheer on our recipients!
Publicity
Publicity’s role is to advertise the club’s activities and encourage new membership and participation. This involves distributing written announcements to local print and online media. Easy!
Website
The coordinator, Hazel Powell, would like some help maintaining the CC website, updating programming, scheduling and policies. Training is available both through the university and from Hazel.
Newsletter
The Newsletter Coordinator generates three newsletters per year with information about CC’s activities. The newsletter needs someone to write articles as well as take photos or get others to write articles and contribute photos that are then put together into a newsletter form. When it’s done, it can go to the website coordinator to be included in the CC website, both as a pdf and as separate news items. As coordinator, you can create a team of writers and designers if you like!
