Community Connections Scholarship Recipients

Each of the two organizations from which UCSC Community Connections was born, the Affiliates and the Women’s Club, had a scholarship program. The Affiliates scholarship funds local students in financial need, and the Women’s Club’s Rita Olsen Pister scholarship funds re-entry students. Each of these programs is funded by an endowment; that is, gift(s) or bequest(s) that are invested, and the interest income from the investment is used for a purpose set forth in the initial gift. So because each endowment is already established, as Community Connections we will retain our two endowments for two populations of students. The Affiliates scholarships are awarded to students in the fall of the year, while the Rita Olsen Pister Scholarships are decided in the spring. We will honor scholarship recipients from both funds at our Spring Scholarship Luncheon.
